HATTIESBURG, Miss.  (KNOE 8 News) - Officials at the University of Southern Miss estimate it will take tens of millions of dollars to repair its campus.

The college board voted to allow Higher Education Commissioner Hank Bounds to take action without board approval to help the school.  The tornado damaged 9 buildings on the southern edge of its campus.

Most of the damage to the school is expected to be covered by a $500 million dollar insurance policy. Classes are planned to resume on Friday, although many classes will be held in temporary quarters.
