WASHINGTON, D.C., (KNOE 8 News) - Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) has issued the following reaction to the president' State of the Union address last night:
"The president in his State of the Union address simply promised more of the same failed policies: more taxes, more spending, more debt, and more crony capitalism. Hard-working Arkansans have suffered through a four year experiment in centralized government planning as a way to produce economic growth and jobs. The only result is $6 trillion added to our national debt and an economic contraction in the last three months of 2012. Arkansans and Americans deserve better.
"I also have serious concerns about the president's national security remarks. Wars are not movies. They do not end. They are won or lost. The president's promise to withdrawal troops from Afghanistan regardless of conditions on the ground threatens to turn that country back into a terrorist safe-haven. The president also offered only one sentence about nuclear Iran, the gravest threat to the world today. As your Congressman, please know that I will do my very best to protect our interests and preserve our freedom for the next generation."
