Update: Bank robbery in West Monroe, two arrests

Tuesday night update:

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputies say 28-year-old Kerry Gayfield and 19-year-old Mark Redmond are being held in the Ouachita Correctional Center on an Armed Robbery charge. Gayfield is also being charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputies say Redmond provided transportation to and from the robbery for Gayfield. Gayfield admitted to breaking into the bank armed with a handgun, and obtaining cash.

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The branch manager at Community Trust Bank tells KNOE 8 News there were no injuries as a result of the robbery. The manager of the West Monroe branch says the employees followed exact procedure in handling the dangerous situation.

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is confirming reports of a robbery at Community Trust Bank in West Monroe near Well Road.

The Sheriff tells KNOE 8 News that two suspects are in custody, they have recovered the vehicle used in the alleged crime and they have recovered some of the stolen property. The names of those arrested have not been released.

The sheriff says they have yet to interview bank employees regarding what happened late this afternoon.

Early reports from witnesses indicate the employees and suspects may still be inside the bank at this hour (5:30 PM).
