SHREVEPORT, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A man who escaped briefly from a Mississippi prison in 2005 is now in Caddo Parish, facing a charge accusing him of stealing guns while he was on the lam.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says James Kenneth Bruce was arrested in Colorado County, Texas, shortly after his escape and was returned to Jackson, Miss., to complete his sentence there for burglary.
Before he was caught, he and two other men and two women allegedly stole several firearms from a home near Bethany, La.
Chadwick said Tuesday that deputies don't know when Bruce completed his Hinds County, Miss., sentence. She says that Bruce, now 40 and from Chalmette, was arrested on an unrelated charge in St. Bernard Parish in 2010 and was sent to Caddo Parish after finishing that sentence.
