LITTLE ROCK, Ar., (KNOE 8 News) - Lt. Governor Darr says he's received support and encouragement to join the gubernatorial race, but he said it's not the right choice for him now. Darr instead voiced support for Republican gubernatorial hopeful and former U.S. Rep. Asa Hutchinson.
Darr said last month that he was seriously considering running against Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor but was also considering the governor's race or a re-election bid.
No Republicans have announced a bid to challenge Pryor, who is seeking a third term.
Darr's announcement comes after Democratic Attorney General Dustin McDaniel dropped out of the gubernatorial race last month.
Gov. Mike Beebe is barred by term limits from seeking re-election in 2014.
