UPDATE: Monroe hit and run suspect going to grand jury

MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - UPDATE: Monroe Police have confirmed to KNOE 8 News that they turned the case of the female suspect in the hit and run death of 47-year-old Marshall Shaw in Monroe on February 2nd over to the District Attorney's office which is taking the case before a grand jury.

The case will be presented before the grand jury and in several weeks the charges facing the suspect could be determined. Monroe Police said it will be some form of hit and run charge but which one has yet to be decided on.


PREVIOUS STORY: At 3:30 AM on Monday, Monroe Police arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the Monroe fatal hit-and run accident that took the life of 47-year-old Marshall Shaw on Saturday, Feb. 2nd.

Monroe Police have confirmed to KNOE 8 News that the suspect is female but no identity is being released yet as their investigation continues. The vehicle believe to be involved in the accident is also in police custody.

Right now police believe the cause of the hit to be accidental. They said they have taken the female suspect's statements and are continuing their investigation. 

Monroe Police also said they are working with the District Attorney's office to determine whether or not the woman will be charged with vehicular homicide.
