MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Police are speaking out after a lockdown drill at Carroll High School in Monroe, left parents and student in shock.
It turns out, police were not notified about the drill Friday.
The school board says it's part of the system's crisis management plan to alert authorities about drills. Police say they support the training effort, but hope next time they'll get the heads up.
"What we would suggest is there were some outside factors that go outside the school," Sgt. Mark Johnson said.
The police spokesman says the department is happy schools are taking the extra safety initiative. He says they are more than willing to coordinate a drill with any school at any time.
