WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Relatives are still seeking answers behind a deadly hit and run in Monroe, after the victim was laid to rest Saturday. The crash claimed the life of 49-year-old Althea Thomas.

Mourners gathered early Saturday morning for their last good-byes at a West Monroe Cemetery.

Loved ones say Thomas once worked for the city of West Monroe.

A hit and run claimed the life of Thomas last month near Martin Luther King Junior Drive and Ruffin Street in Monroe.

Relatives are hoping the person responsible comes forward.

"I know we've been together for so many years and I loved her so much with all my heart," Freddie Wilhite said. "Never would do anything to hurt her. Everything to help her and whoever did it, I hope God in my heart, and I pray that God will bring them to justice"

Wilhite was the companion of the hit and run victim.

Police have yet to find any suspects linked to the crime.

Loved ones say West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris and Griffin Funeral home helped foot the bill for services. There's still time for you to donate money to help pay for the services.

For more information on ways you can help out, speak with Ron Downing at (318) 323-8403 or you can visit his flower shop at 1326 North 7th Street in West Monroe. Downing says he has an account set up at a bank for donations.
