Two Gorum residents arrested in series of burglaries and thefts

GORUM, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Two people arrested in December in connection with a series of burglaries and thefts in the Gorum area of south Natchitoches Parish have been arrested again on various criminal charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

During the course of these investigations, detectives were gathering additional information and evidence on other open burglaries in the Gorum area, when one of the suspect's who was being held in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on prior burglary charges was released on bond, according to Chief of Investigations Detective Greg Dunn.

During the current ongoing criminal investigation, detectives traveled to Marksville, La., to conduct interviews in the case.

As a result of the investigation, detectives say they learned that the suspects were involved in two separate residential burglaries on June 20th, 2012 located at 326 Andy Cedars Road, and 154 Andy Cedars Road, Gorum, La. Entry into the residences were gained through windows. Taken in both burglaries was approximately $400 in change.

Deputies also say they learned that the suspects were involved in the theft of two five gallon cans of Diesel fuel, from a camp house, located at 354 Mora-Gorum Road, Gorum, La., on/or near December 21st, 2012.

On January 19th, 2013, detectives arrested Chastity Paige Edwards, 19 of the 800 block of Janie-Gorum Road, Gorum, La., charging her with 1-count of Principle to Theft in connection with the Diesel fuel thefts.

Since that time, detectives and patrol deputies had been attempting to locate the other suspect in the case.

On February 5th, Carmello M. Casciari II, 20 of the 100 block of Catholic Church Road, Gorum, La., turned himself into Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies.

Casciari, was arrested, and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, charged with 2-counts of Simple Burglary in connection with the residential burglaries, and 1-count of Theft in connection with the diesel fuel theft. Casciari remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center.
