Slidell man pleads guilty to bludgeoning parents

Posted: Updated:

COVINGTON, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Slidell-area man who last month pleaded guilty in the middle of his first-degree murder trial to bludgeoning his parents to death has been sentenced to life in prison.

State District Judge Raymond Childress sentenced 26-year-old John Claiborn Willis this week.

Willis was accused of beating his parents, Lewis and Helen Willis, to death with a blunt object - possibly a hammer, in November of 2011.

Authorities said they had asked Willis to take on more adult responsibilities, including household chores.
