MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Students watched some of their professors and administrators participate in the "African American Contributions to The World" event. It showcases accomplishments of African Americans in science, history, education, politics, and art. A summary of the "Emancipation Proclamation" was read, which was signed into action by President Abraham Lincoln on September 22, 1862.

ULM is hosted Dr. Donald Wayne Smith Wednesday night on the seventh floor of the library. Dr. Smith was scheduled to give an insight of his life.
