Baton Rouge top cop fired

BATON ROUGE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White has been fired, after less than two years on the job.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden's administration reportedly fired him on Wednesday.

White has said he received a letter from the city's chief administrative officer, William Daniel, that there was a "substantial disagreement with the direction of the Baton Rouge Police Department."

White says he doesn't know who the interim police chief will be.

As far as his own future is concerned, White commented, "When one door closes, another opens."

The mayor's office is apparently not responding to media calls.
