Ark. Supreme Court Justice takes a paid-for trip to Italy

LITTLE ROCK, Ar , (KNOE 8 News) - Financial disclosure reports show that Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Courtney Hudson Goodson received a $50,000 trip to Italy last year from a Fayetteville attorney.

Goodson reported the gift from lawyer W.H. Taylor in a statement of financial interest.

Goodson hasn't responded to requests for comment, but a spokesman said the justice would recuse from any cases involving Taylor before the Arkansas Supreme Court.

The spokesman also said that Taylor is a friend and business partner to Goodson's husband, John Goodson.

Chief Justice Jim Hannah and Associate Justice Donald Corbin each reported trips to the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence symposium in Chicago. Corbin also reported a trip to Cincinnati to judge a moot court competition and another trip to Washington D.C. for a forum
