New Orleans bus accident sends 8 highschoolers to the hospital

Posted: Updated:

NEW ORLEANS, La., (KNOE 8 News) - New Orleans police say an accident involving a car and a school bus sent eight high school students to the hospital late Monday.

Officer Garry Flot says a bus from KIPP Renaissance High School was stopped at a red light when the bus was hit from behind by a car being driven by 39-year-old Ammer Gader.

Flot says eight students aboard the bus, all between the ages of 17 and 19, complained of neck and back pain. They were all taken to a hospital to be checked out. The school bus driver was not injured in the accident.

Police say Gader was cited for following too close.
