Oklahoma tribe turns its back on DiamondJacks casinos

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma decided to pass on the $125 million deal to buy the bankrupt casinos in Bossier City, La., and Vicksburg, Miss.

Global Gaming Solutions, a unit of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, wrote in court papers filed last month that the DiamondJacks operations had run further downhill since owner Legends Gaming filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in Shreveport, La., in July.

Legends, even after an earlier bankruptcy, owes lenders $298 million, almost all in secured debt

Legends, based near Chicago, accuses Global of breaking its purchase contract in court papers. William McEnery owns 92 percent of Legends shares.

Neither Legends nor Global could immediately be reached for comment.

Mississippi Gaming Commission Executive Director Allen Godfrey says he's been told the Vicksburg casino will continue operating.
