"Discovery Hospital" at NELA Children's Museum

MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - As part of KNOE 8 News's "20 Days to a Healthier, Wealthier, Wiser You" all through February, we're telling you about a new medical exhibit inside the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum aimed at keeping you and your children healthy in the future.

It's called the "Discovery Hospital" exhibit and it just opened at the museum last Friday.

The Ouachita Medical Society Alliance sponsored the exhibit and Louisiana Tech design students created and installed it.

Museum directors said the entire process of completing the exhibit took a year.

The exhibit features a gigantic heart that actually pumps and shows children its different chambers, real X-Rays, a microscope to see skin particles and other substances up close, numerous informative posters, a magnetic pharmacy and various toys to teach children the different parts of the body.

The exhibit is open and available to all.

The museum's hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am till 2:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.

Admission is $5 per person, $3 per person in a group of 15 or more.
