Some barge traffic moving following accident and spill on Mississippi

VICKSBURG, Miss. (KNOE 8 News) - Southbound vessels are being allowed to pass through a closed section of the Mississippi River near Vicksburg Thursday.

This is to test how barges will affect efforts to remove oil from the river. A 16-mile stretch of the river remains closed after two barges collided with a railroad bridge. About 7000 gallons of crude oil is unaccounted for.

The coast guard says some of it could have seeped inside a barge.
