MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Two animal welfare officers are on the way for the city of Monroe. The police department has submitted its proposal to the city's legal office. Mayor Jamie Mayo says he hopes to hire two people for the job. Currently, the parish is handling all calls that deal with animals within the city. Monroe leaders are planning to post the job internally for ten days to give current workers the opportunity to apply first.
