MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Ouachita Sheriff's Office is working on a homicide investigation, after the body of a man was found Saturday morning on the 1800 Block of Bernstein Park Drive.

The sister of a Monroe man is asking why someone would shoot her brother. Heather Johnson spent Saturday trying to understand what happened.

"To just shoot somebody like that and leave them right there for dead," says Johnson, "it was my brother, like really, who would do something like that."

Police are asking the same question. Deputies are not releasing the identity of the body until relatives have been notified.

The body was found Saturday morning in the front yard of a boarded up home on Bernstein Street, also referred to as Bernstein Park Drive, in South Monroe, and family are already paying their respects.

"He was 34 and he was a nice person. He had kids. He had family that loved him, and it was just sad what happened to him, it was very wrong," says Johnson.

Johnson says she can't imagine what her brother was doing Friday night that could have led to this.

"I have know idea, probably just out having a good time. I had just seen him right before it happened. He was probably just out, it's the weekend he was out having a good time," says Johnson.

The homicide is under investigation by the Ouachita Sheriff's Department.
