Guns and ammo sell fast at KNOE Boat and Outdoor Show

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - When the doors open at noon Friday for the 2013 KNOE Boat and Outdoor show, crowds came pouring in.

Many vendors say they're giving special thanks to one person for making it happen.

"Business is good right now, because of our government," says Kyle Ford, "the Obama ban is going on, Obama's been the number one gun salesman the history of the United States."

Ford's family has been in the gun business for more than twenty years and they are crediting Obama's latest gun law proposal for the boost in business.

"I have sold more guns in the past five years that he's been in office, than I have in twenty years of being in the gun business," says Ford.

Another vendor agrees with Ford, and says he doesn't agree with the proposed assault weapons ban, or even the name.

"I actually don't prefer to call them assault weapons," says Charles Marsh, "because I've never used them as assault, I've used them as defense."

Whatever the government calls it, people are flocking to the gun show to buy while they can.

"We sold out of ammo within an hour of the doors opening, we had probably 3000 rounds...all sold," says Marsh.

Marsh and Ford agree that whether people are buying for hunting, recreation, of self-protection, it's clear that the gun show is a popular destination in the ArkLaMiss.
