TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Hundreds in Madison Parish are in Washington D.C. to witness the presidential inauguration.
Before the 8 P.M. Saturday departure, many parents along with their children met up at Wright Elementary School in Tallulah. Organizers say 31 families are getting the opportunity to go to the nation's capital. A school board member is the main leader behind this opportunity. Students are excited for the trip.
"I expect to see a lot of people and I expect to be cold," Sixth Grader Adriana Fount said.
"It's an honor to be in the presence of it all, and it's an honor to see your president get inaugurated," Tenth Grader Hope Travis said.
This trip was open to four schools in Madison Parish. Each student had the opportunity to have relatives tag along all for about $270 per family.
