MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A shooting at a Monroe gas station Saturday night left one victim injured and a suspect on the run.
Monroe Police responded to a shooting at a Valero station on Highway 165 North just after 9 PM Saturday.
Police say only one person was injured in the shooting, but officers were unable to speak with the victim because he left the crime scene. The shooting was called in by the victim's parent, according to police.
In the store's surveillance footage, two men are seen speaking to each other outside near a gas pump. One of the men, wearing all black, entered the convenience store and, according the store's owner, got a gun from another man.
The suspect in black walked back outside shooting at the man he was just seen speaking to near the gas pumps. Store employees say the suspect shot several times striking the victim at least once. The victim was able to run north away from the scene. The suspect immediately got back into the car and drove south away from the station.
The gas station has surveillance cameras, and Monroe Police are working to retrieve the recording in order to identify the shooter.
