MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - A traffic accident on Louisville Ave. in Monroe happened just before 10 a.m. on Friday, sending one driver to the hospital and causing thousands of dollars in damages for one Monroe car dealership.

The accident involved seven cars, four on the road and three parked in a car dealership's lot.

Monroe Police tell KNOE 8 News that a black Dodge pickup was turning onto Louisville from the Hixson Ford Monroe car dealership when the driver lost control and rear-ended another car, which in turned caused an accident involving two other cars.

After the truck rear-ended the first car, the truck veered off the road, struck a live power pole and then crashed into three parked cars in a lot owned by Hixson.

Police tell KNOE 8 News that the driver of the truck was a Hixson employee. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hixson representatives tell KNOE 8 News that two of their parked cars suffered minor damage while a third suffered major damage. In total, Hixson reps estimate the damages to equal around $10,000.

There is no word yet on any power loss done to the area from the damaged power pole. Entergy crews were on the scene to examine the pole.

There were no other injuries. Monroe Police are not releasing the identity of the truck driver yet but they say he will receive a citation.
