ULM online MBA named one of the best

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - U.S. News & World Report's 2013 Best Online Education Programs includes the online MBA offered by the University of Louisiana at Monroe's College of Business.

ULM's program, which was established in 2010, was ranked in the top 30 percent—61st nationally—out of 213 eligible programs and was the only online MBA program ranked in Louisiana.

In the program overview provided by U.S. News & World Report, ULM is noted as having 100 percent of its incoming online MBA students already employed upon enrollment. The report also notes that the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accredits the online MBA program.

"We are excited about our first appearance in the U.S. News & World Report national rankings for online graduate business programs and view it as a positive step in the evolution of our online MBA program," said Ron Berry, dean of the College of Business at ULM.  "This ranking, in addition to our national ranking as the best value among all AACSB-International accredited MBA programs by Geteducated.com, reflects the efforts of our dedicated faculty who have developed and deliver our high quality graduate classes."

Dr. Eric Pani, vice president of Academic Affairs at ULM, said the ranking shows the "exceptional ability" of both the ULM faculty, and students enrolled in the program.

"We are very pleased to receive this ranking from U.S. News and World Report," he said.  "Their findings add to the growing evidence demonstrating the quality and affordability of ULM's MBA program.  It is rewarding to see Dean Berry and the faculty and staff in the College of Business receive well-earned recognition for their outstanding efforts, and I want to thank them for all that they do."

According to U.S. News & World Report, the rankings were based on statistics from 959 regionally accredited institutions that grant masters degrees in business, including public, private, and for-profit institutions. Of the 959 institutions, 213 offer those programs online.

U.S. News & World Report also reviewed each school's student engagement, which included sub categories in graduation rates, best practices, program level accreditation, class size, GMAT scores, and student GPAs; admissions selectivity, faculty credentials, and student services and technology.

In October 2012, ULM's online MBA was named the "Best Buy" in the United States by the national review team at GetEducated.com.
