LifeShare calls "crisis"

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Due to the icy conditions over the last couple of days, there have been multiple blood drive cancellations, including 3 today. This has resulted in the blood supply being well below critical levels, which our area hospitals rely on, on a daily basis. This is especially true for type O.

In response to this need, LifeShare has added an emergency blood drive at WalMart West Monroe from 10am to 7pm today.

A Lifeshare spokesman, discussing the current crisis situation said that last week's drive for the same situation did help boost supply levels, but the icy weather has since complicated that recovery effort.

In addition to the mobile drive at WM West Monroe, Lifeshare's fixed site locations are open M-F from 8am-430pm.  They are located at: 2909 Kilpatrick Blvd in Monroe and Graham Shopping Center in Ruston

The spokesman also point out that Lifeshares is currently struggling to meet hospital stock orders.
