Union Parish Sheriff weekend activity

UNION PARISH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The Union Parish Sheriff's office is reporting the following activity over this past weekend.

Sharon Pleshette Hill, 41, no address given, was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center for malfeasance in office and introducing contraband into a penal institution.

Warrants were issued for Hill's arrest Jan. 10 and her bond was set at $3,500. The warrants did not state what kind of contraband was introduced into the jail. According to the warrants, the incident occurred Nov. 28.

Sylvester Griffin, 53, 2253 Sardis Fire Station Rd., Farmerville, was booked into the detention center for theft of copper and simple burglary. His bond was set at $10,000 on the burglary charge and $5,000 on the theft count.

Griffin had outstanding warrants against him for failing to appear on the following charges: obstruction of a highway, speeding, driving under suspension, no insurance, no registration, resisting by flight, driving while intoxicated, expired motor vehicle inspection and no license plate. Bond had not been set on these charges.

According to investigators, a witness observed Griffin at a residence where the copper wiring was removed and the owner reported the burglary and theft on Sept. 10. He was arrested Saturday, Jan. 12 on warrants.

A Marion resident, Lance Bracknell, 29, was arrested over the weekend for cruelty to a juvenile. A warrant was sworn out for his arrest Jan. 7 after he was accused of hitting his 2-year-old stepdaughter with a closed fist. His bond was set at $7,500.

Another Marion resident, Cyle (sic) D. Nation, 25, of 3362 Hwy. 549, was booked Saturday for possession of a legend drug; unauthorized use of a movable; criminal damage to property; disturbing the peace by loud and profane language, disturbing the peace by intoxication; and domestic abuse battery. Bond was set at $8,000.

An arrest document stated that Nation got into an argument with his mother and sister. It stated he kept poking his mother on the forehead with his finger while he cursed her. Deputies reported finding two different strengths of Zoloft pills on Nation's person, some of his and others belonging to his mother.

Nation was charged with damaging a door inside the residence and taking his stepfather's vehicle without permission.

Larry Watley, 62, of 901-A Square Drive, Farmerville, was arrested Saturday for disturbing the peace by intoxication, but was also booked for public intimidation after cursing and threatening the arresting deputy. His total bond was set at $5,500.
