MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Vantage health is kicking off its "No Nicotine in 2013" initiative, hoping 2013 will be a healthier year for it's employees.
Starting January first, Vantage Health Plan and Affinity Health Group are now tobacco free. That means no use of tobacco will be allowed on any of the properties owned by either company. Vantage owns several buildings and parking lots in downtown Monroe. Click here to see a list of those properties click here.
"We want to set a healthy example for our community...for our memberships and our employees, we are a health care provider. We just want to provide our members and patients with the healthiest environments we can give them," said Vantage Wellness Coordinator Cary Roussel.
Vantage and Affinity say the new campus policy is meant to improve the health of employees, visitors and patients by promoting tobacco free living. The initiative will provide support to all employees and members who want to stop using tobacco products.
"At Vantage we actually offer our employees and mentors a free tobacco cessation program, its administered through our Affinity Health Group, its called the quit tobacco program, its free to our members and employees, it's a year long program its only $99 dollars for non members, its open to the public as well," said Roussel.
