JACKSON, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/ AP) - In Mississippi, the state's only abortion clinic is facing a shutdown, once again. The clinic failed to comply with a state law forcing each physician to get hospital admitting privileges.
Governor Phil Bryant signed the rule into the books last year. He says his goal is to close the clinic for good.
The State Health Department will not force the clinic to close immediately. The department will set an inspection at a later date. If a shutdown is ordered, then the clinic will get the opportunity to appeal.
