MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A jury returned the verdict this week, convicting 19-year-old Ladarrian Jones of 3 counts of attempted 2nd degree murder after a 4 day trial.
Initially, both Jones and his half-brother, Jameel Chatman had been charged in connection with a shooting and stabbing incident that took place at the Aurora Trailer Park in Monroe in April of 2011.
Jones and Chatman were additionally charged with 3 counts of armed robbery of 3 ULM students in a separate incident which also occurred at the Ryan Manor Apartments in April of 2011.
The jury found Jones not guilty of the 3 armed robbery counts.
Chatman had previously pleaded guilty to one of the armed robbery counts and received a 30 year hard labor sentence in exchange for his testimony against Jones.
Sentencing is set for March 7 before Judge Scott Leehy. Jones faces a possible sentence of not less than 10 nor more than 50 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence on each count of the attempted 2nd degree murder counts.
