LAS VEGAS, Nv., (KNOE 8 News) - Miss Louisiana 2012, Lauren Vizza, will be trying to become the first Miss Louisiana to be crowned Miss America Saturday night in Las Vegas.
The live televised finals will air on ABC at 7:00 pm Central time on Saturday, January 12th.
Lauren was selected from 35 young women in the 49th Annual Miss Louisiana Pageant this past June, here in Monroe at ULM.
Lauren is a senior at Louisiana Tech University majoring in Political Science with minors in History and English. Following her undergraduate degree, Lauren plans to obtain her Juris Doctorate and pursue a career in foreign diplomacy.
Lauren currently serves as the spokesperson and ambassador for Louisiana's Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the Louisiana March of Dimes, Louisiana Cares for Children, Louisiana Propane Dealers and the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
