Blood drive announced in Monroe

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - LifeShare Blood Centers is reporting "critically low" blood supplies and is holding what's being termed an "emergency blood drive".

The drive is being held at St. Francis Hospital from 10 am until 6 pm today. All blood types are in demand, but Type O blood is especially needed at this time. All donors will receive a free cholesterol screening and will be entered in a drawing for a 42" flat screen TV to be given away on Feb 1st.

The primary reason for the blood shortage is due to the recent holiday season, flu epidemic, and inclement weather.
