MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - If you live around ULM in Monroe, don't be alarmed if you hear sirens about 9am on Friday the 11th.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Police Department will test the emergency alert siren at 9 a.m., Friday, January 11. An official will announce that the test is about to be performed, and the siren will sound for approximately one minute.

The emergency alert siren runs internal system checks daily and reports its current status via e-mail. This upcoming test on Friday is a function check of the audible siren. The siren is located on top of the tower at Walker Hall and is designed to provide campus-wide warnings of inclement weather, fire, or other emergency situation.
