MOREHOUSE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Morehouse Parish School Board approved of Beekman Junior High's charter school application.
Board President Tamika Farrell says board members voted Tuesday night in a 5-to-2 vote to turn Beekman Junior High School into a charter school. The school was approved for a "type 3" charter school status, meaning it would stay in the school district.
The charter mission's statement says the transformed school would seek to renew their school climate with greater parental involvement, high teacher morale, and positive student attitude.
