BATON ROUGE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The La. Legislative Black Caucus has elected its officers for 2013-2014 and Monroe's Katrina Jackson has been named chairwoman of the caucus.

Ms. Jackson said, "It is my sincere honor and privilege to be elected by my colleagues to lead the LLBC. This is an amazing path to take as once a staff member of the House of Representatives, then as the executive director of the LLBC and now as the chair. "I...will use all my experience, knowledge, and God-given wisdom to uphold and further the longstanding mission of the LLBC.

Outgoing Chairwoman, State Rep. Patricia Smith said, "It has been a pleasure to have served as the caucus chair for the past two terms. I look forward to supporting Representative Katrina Jackson as a member of her executive team and assisting in any means of moving our caucus forward."
