MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Good news for hockey fans, the NHL and its players have finally reached a deal to end the lockout. The lockout wiped out more than four months of the season. The new, 10 year deal, still needs to be ratified by the team owners and the players. Fans are expressing relief that the lockout appears to be over. Many people at the table say they knew eventually a deal would happen.
"I've said repeatedly through this process and somebody will say 'what do you see ahead?' and the answer is you get up tomorrow and find a way to keep doing that until you find a way to succeed," NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr said.
The 10-year deal would see the players' share of hockey-related income drop from 57% to a 50-50 split.
