UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Union Parish sheriff's deputies made two drug-related arrests Wednesday.
Tyler W. Smith, 17, of 4340 Hwy. 549, Marion, was booked into the parish detention center for distribution of marijuana and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. His bond was set at $13,500.
Deputies reported they saw two vehicles parked at the intersection of Stansbury Road and Hwy. 33 at Farmerville and stopped to see if the occupants needed help.
Smith said that his juvenile brother in the other vehicle had run of gas and he had come to help. The deputies had dispatch to run Smith's name for a valid driver's license and he had none. Also, the sheriff's Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs notified the deputies that they had a warrant for his arrest on the drug charge.
While being booked into the detention center, a strip search turned up marijuana on the suspect's person, deputies reported.
A traffic stop in Farmerville at the intersection of La. Hwy. 2 and Holder Road resulted in the arrest of Allen M. Brown, 20, of 7911 Hico St., Dubach. He was booked into the detention center for possession of marijuana and illegal use of a dangerous controlled drug in the presence of a minor.
Deputies said a 15-year-old juvenile was an occupant in the vehicle. Brown's bond was set at $5,000.
