UPDATE: Dr. Barbara Hanson is Chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College

MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - UPDATE: As KNOE 8 News first reported to you, the Louisiana Community and Technical College Board of Supervisors voted on Friday to make Dr. Barbara Hanson the new chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College.

Hanson is currently President of Learning at San Jacinto College-Central Campus in Pasadena, Texas.

"During her career, Dr. Hanson has demonstrated that she has the resolve and commitment it will take to lead LDCC through this transition. Her successful experience of building strong relations with business and industry and having served as a faculty member and administrator will serve the college and community well," said LCTCS President, Dr. Joe May.

"It is an honor and a privilege to join the students, faculty, and staff at Louisiana Delta Community College. I have thought about several opportunities over the course of my career. However, I cannot remember a time that I felt more at home than when I visited this college and met with the faculty, staff, and students as well as a number of community members," said Hanson.

PREVIOUS STORY: Louisiana Delta Community College public information coordinators confirmed to KNOE 8 News on Thursday that the decision of who will be the college's next chancellor could be decided in Baton Rouge around 11 a.m. on Friday.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors said it needed more time to decide the best leader back on Dec. 13, delaying the original vote.

The three finalists for the job are still Dr. Rodney Ellis, Executive Vice President at the Atlanta Technical College in Georgia, Dr. Barbara Hanson, President of Learning at San Jacinto College-Central Campus in Pasadena, Texas and Interim LDCC Chancellor, Dr. Jerry Ryan.
