State Police give safety tips for New Year's celebration

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana State Police give words of advice for celebrating the new year safely.

Proper planning is required to ensure safety for you and yours. Here's a checklist from LSP for New Year's Eve:

Have a plan
Buckle up and make sure all persons in your vehicle are buckled while on the road
Watch LSU Tigers Win
Enjoy New Year's Eve festivities with family and friends
Remember that impairment starts with ONE drink
Don't Drive Impaired. Designate a sober driver, call a cab, or stay where you are.
If you travel on foot or by bicycle, wear bright clothing, be cognizant of traffic and travel safe.
Start 2013 safe and healthy!
