SHREVEPORT, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Thousands of tickets were sold through the University of Louisiana at Monroe ticket office for the Independence Bowl.

Fans were more than happy to put up with the soggy weather to support their Hawks in their first bowl game. Hundreds of fans are filling the parking lot tailgating, but sometimes it was the Brown family that was cheering the loudest.

Their family of more than 20 made the long drive from Oklahoma to watch the Warhawks at the Independence Bowl. They took an RV for the 6 hour drive all to hopefully watch one of their family members play ball. The family of red-shirt freshman quarterback Brayle Brown says he's excited about the Warhawks bowl pick this year.

"He's really excited, it's funny, he's still my little baby brother, so it's awesome to see him," says Tyson Brown.

Proud of their player, the Browns say they are happy to be a part of history in the making, even if means going a little crazy on the way.

"Being stuck in a van with these guys for 6 hours," says Brown, "it was borderline insane, but we made it."
