CAMP MINDEN, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Operations resumed at Camp Minden this morning, with about one and a half million pounds of the explosives still to be moved into safer storage.
Yesterday, some 302,000 pounds of the M6 explosives was moved, bringing the total moved thus far to about 4.6 million pounds of the original 6 million pounds.
The investigation into the explosion at the storage facility, an investigation now being characterized as "a criminal investigation" continues. Because of that explosion, the entire town of Doyline, La. had to be evacuated.
Explo Systems operates the facility, renting the space at Camp Minden to demilitarize explosives.
The Louisiana State Police are overseeing the moving and planned "safer" storage of the explosives.
