The debate about guns is back on the table

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The gun law debate is back on. That's after the Connecticut Shooting Tragedy. Lawmakers are speaking out about assault weapons. They're voicing their thoughts on the national stage. Governor Dan Malloy of Connecticut agreeing with stricter gun laws, while a U.S. Representative from Texas believes school leaders should be armed.

"I wish to God she (Shady Hook principal) had had an M-4 locked away in her office locked up, so when she heard gunfire, she would've pulled it out so she didn't have to lunge heroically with nothing," Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) said.

"These are assault weapons, you don't hunt deer with these things. The question that a lot of people are going to have to resolve in their own minds, 'where should this line get drawn?'" Governor Dan Malloy (D- CT) said.

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has promised to introduce a bill to ban assault weapons in January. That motion is already getting some mixed reaction from both sides of the isle.
