WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners for the A.O. Evans Award and the first-ever Entrepreneurial Success Award.

Both award winners were announced at the WMWO Chamber of Commerce's Annual Banquet held on Monday, Dec. 10 at the West Monroe Convention Center.

The winner of the A.O. Evans Award is Tex R. Kilpatrick, founder and CEO of Kilpatrick Enterprises.

Kilpatrick, 80, opened the first funeral home in West Monroe in 1953 and established a Monroe location in 1974. Today, Kilpatrick Enterprises employs more than 50 people and has multiple funeral homes. In 2008, Kilpatrick Enterprises purchased Twin Cities Memorial Garden and renamed it Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens.

He is a former chairman of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has been involved in a number of community projects.

"The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce offers its deepest congratulations to Tex Kilpatrick on being named the 2012 recipient of the A.O. Evans Award," said WMWO Chamber President Courtney Hornsby. "He has given a lifetime of service to the West Monroe and West Ouachita region and continues to play an integral role in the betterment of this community. Mr. Kilpatrick exemplifies the spirit of the A.O. Evans Award."

The winner of the first-ever Entrepreneurial Success Award is Johnny's Pizza House, Inc. The company began with one store in 1966 across the street from what was then known as Northeast State College, employing five people. Today, Johnny's has 35 corporate stores, eight franchise locations and contracts for 27 more franchises. Their geographic footprint includes Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas.

"The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Johnny's Pizza House, Inc. as the recipient of our first-ever Entrepreneurial Success Award," said Billy Hance, Chairman of the WMWO Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. "We believe Johnny's Pizza House and its principal owner, Johnny Huntsman, exemplify the spirit and leadership of the award."
