MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) -The 165 south business connector project continues to be stalled in the final planning stage.
Originally slated to be done in 2005 and fully funded for years, the project has been plagued with perpetual delays. The project will add extra lanes and sidewalks to the road leading up to the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo. Eventually the road will also lead to Jackson Street.
City Attorney Nanci Summersgill says the latest delay is caused by some land owners refusing to give up their property. Now they try to acquire the land through other means.
The latest delay will tack on several extra months to this stage of the project.
