DOWNSVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Union Parish man is being held in the parish jail accused of throwing a glass cup and hitting his daughter-in-law on the head.
Charles David Gunter, 55, of Downsville, was arrested over the weekend and booked into the Union Parish Detention Center for aggravated battery and disturbing the peace by public intoxication. His bond was set at $6,500.
The victim told deputies that Gunter was sitting in a chair when she got home Saturday night after visiting her husband at an area hospital. She said Gunter started yelling at her when she walked in the door and then got up and threw the cup at her.
Gunter then left the residence walking, but was arrested by deputies, who had been called to the scene, a short distance away. A deputy stated that Gunter attempted to step in front of his patrol unit while it was moving.
