Monroe woman charged with trying to get Valium illegally

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe Narcotics Unit has arrested a woman after she reportedly tried to get Valium from a pharmacy illegally.

According to the arrest report, Erica L. Sutherlin, 34, 126 Wellington Place, West Monroe, called a pharmacy in Ouachita Parish, posing as a nurse at a doctor's office in Ruston. Police stated Sutherlin requested 60 Valium. The pharmacy contacted the doctor's office, which said the prescription was not authorized.

The investigation also alleges that Sutherlin obtained 60 Xanax from another parish pharmacy on Wednesday, according to police.

The arrest affidavit stated Sutherlin confessed to getting the drugs by fraud.

She was taken to Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with two counts of obtaining controlled dangerous substance by fraud with a total bond of $40,000.

According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Sutherlin was arrested on the same charge on April 29. On April 23 she was arrested for unauthorized use of an access card.
