MONROE, LA. (KNOE 8 News) - Hostess workers losing their jobs in Louisiana are getting a leg up for the next job hunt.
On Friday morning, the Louisiana Workforce Commission held a workshop for Monroe's former Hostess workers.
Staffers explained jobless benefits and re-employment services.
The parishes of Northeast Louisiana have seen 28 laid off Hostess workers.
More than 400 people are working for the brand in the Bayou State.
The workshop is part of a statewide initiative to help workers get back on their feet.
"We're going to share with them some of our re-employment services," LWC Rapid Response Coordinator, Janna Taylor, said. "We're very interested in getting them into new employment very quickly so we'll talk about some things that are going to be important up front such as resume building, we want to give them a good resume, we want them to really learn about their skills and know what skills they have from Hostess that are transferable into new jobs, also talk to them about some training opportunities."
