Evacuation orders to be lifted Friday in Doyline

DOYLINE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The week-long option evacuation in the village of Doyline will be lifted at noon on Friday.

The evacuation order will be lifted, but the majority of Doyline families already returned to their homes earlier this week. One of those is the Burch family.

David Burch decorates his home for the holidays a few days late, because he decided to evacuate last Friday. Instead of staying away during the entire evacuation, Burch's family came back two days later.

"I have to go to work, my wife has to work, and everything else, so we had to come back instead of trying to get somewhere else to stay," saus Burch.

It's been stressful for Burch because both he and his wife are working, and schools are closed in Doyline for his two children.

"The evacuation orders will be lifted tomorrow at noon," says Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton, "Highway 164 and 163 and all the parish roads leading into Doyline will be open at noon (Friday). Schools will resume normal activities come Monday morning."

Getting his stir-crazy boys back in school, is what excites Burch the most.

"It has been hard. My step daughter lives here and she's been helping baby sit them and all that," says Burch.

Burch puts the final touches on his house, while his boys get the most of the last few days of their mini-vacation.

Hazmat teams will resume working to transport the millions of pounds of ammunition after a short break on the weekend.
