Monroe Firefighters contain a blaze on King street in Monroe

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - At least 4 firefighting units battled a grass fire near some old apartments on King Street in Monroe today. The apartments, formerly the Kingston Apartments, are vacant and have been for some time.

It's believed the fire may have begun as a grass fire and it's that grass fire that firefighters were able to contain and extinguish before it was able to jump to one or more of the vacant apartment buildings..
