LA Tech left out of bowl games in postseason

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana Tech has been left out of a bowl game this postseason despite finishing 9-3.

Louisiana Tech declined an Independence Bowl invitation against ULM on Saturday as they explored other options.

The Bulldogs are currently in the WAC conference which is only directly affiliated with one bowl game. That bid went to Utah State since the Aggies won the conference. San Jose State finished 2nd in the WAC and it accepted a bid to go to the Military Bowl.

Other options were the Heart of Dallas Bowl, but it selected Oklahoma. Then the Liberty Bowl picked Iowa State instead of Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs had the highest rated offense in the country. Two weeks ago, Orange Bowl officials were in town for the Utah State game, but now their season is over.

Next year Louisiana Tech moves to Conference USA in all sports starting July 1st, 2013.
