Santa to join the city for the annual Christmas tree lighting

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The Mayor's office announced that this year's formal ceremony to light the city's Christmas tree will be Saturday, December 1st.
The ceremony will be held in the Monroe Civic Center Plaza at 6pm, with music from the J.S. Clark Elementary School Choir and the 2012 ULM Greek Song Fest winners, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity with a special group from Neville High School.
Also, free cookies and drinks will be served.
Miss Monroe 2012-13, Lauren Ford and Miss Monroe's outstanding teen for 2012-13, Macie McCoy will also be in attendance, along with the Mayor and City Council an many others.
And to round out the ceremonies, Santa himself is expected to arrive in style on a Monroe Fire Engine, complete with candy for the kids.
